Why should we study History?
Studying history, generally, helps us in a lot of ways. From knowing our ancestors, to the ancient times, and even down to millions and millions of years. By studying and understanding our past, we get to know that many parts of our whole existence are a mere fragment of what has happened in the world, and in some ways, the whole universe.
By trying to know what has happened way back then, we somehow see traces of almost everything that made up our body, tangible and intangible parts. Because we are just a result of evolution through time, our behaviour and traits change, and this is caused by the changes in the environment which, in the first place, is affected by change as well.
The behaviour of every human and animals are pretty much synchronous to time because we naturally adapt to what is happening around us, and it is a fact that we exist because there is this “adapting” capability within us, and obviously, what came before us.
Our way of living would be a great example, by knowing fragments of our past, we learned that for over a very long time, although our ancestors had a very different approach in life, because they always fought for survival on their period, there is still a resemblance which we share. Fighting for survival has always been a part of our life eversince, we hunted animals in search for food, we carved places into our own liking in which we call our shelter, and we gather some precious bones or stones for accessories.
When it comes to our spiritual beliefs, traces of factual and clear evidences are found in almost every region of the world. Though quite diverse, the majority of us share the same belief that there is a higher one as to which we seek guidance and protection from. A higher one that we look up to and believe that is almighty and all-knowing.
In terms of adaptivity, our great ancestors was able to learn and master the art of fire making. It may not look relevant if it was to be compared to the modern age, but it greatly links to how our mind works. Our ancestors were thinkers, they are influenced by a thought, and that thought is a “question” which happens to be the mother of all inventions. What we are right now is greatly influenced by our ancestors, and not just us humans, but every living thing in existence perhaps in our world. It is very obvious that studying History, in general, is a relevant thing because it is a great way to understand what we are now.
